does a U.S citizen have to have a passport in order to go on a bahamas or carrebean cruise?
my boyfriend doesnt have a passport but i do. we want to plan a cruise vacation,but dont know if it would be a waste of time since he doesnt have his passport.i heard that all you have to have is your i.d and your birth certificate.i dont know..im confused.

Dave D gave you a good link; however, that link states that if you are entering by SEA, you only need your birth certificate and proof of citizenship.
So, if you depart from and return to the US only by ship, with no air travel involved, you don’t need a passport.

yes. I am going to the bahamas in a few days and I had to get a passport.
u need ur passport to get out of the country enen to the bahamas it sucks but i just had to get mine and my sons cuz were going in december
